We have communicated regularly with the UK Government on the tidal lagoon industry since the Westminster election and continue to do so. The Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Rural Affairs continues to press the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Greg Clarke, for an update on the UK Government’s response to the Hendry Report. She received a further holding response on 8 August from the Minister for Energy and Industry, in which it was stated a Government response to the Hendry Review will be published in due course.
In early July, the Cabinet Secretary for Economy & Infrastructure requested a meeting with the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, to which he is awaiting a response.
We have expressed our disappointment to the UK Government about its approach and continue to press for full engagement given the importance to Wales of the decision.
