What funding has been allocated to local authorities for the new programme to roll out libraries across primary schools?
Answered by Cabinet Minister for Education and the Welsh Language | Answered on 13/08/2026
I am committed to ensuring that every primary school in Wales has a library space, giving children access to a dedicated environment for reading in both Welsh and English by 2030.
In order to understand the level of investment required, officials will be working with local authorities over the coming months to ensure that every primary school in Wales receives the right level of support for this commitment.
School libraries will support wider efforts to improve literacy outcomes and encourage reading for pleasure.
