National Assembly for Wales

This Senedd:
1. Notes the important role convenience stores play in communities and local economies across Wales.
2. Welcomes publication of the Association of Convenience Stores’ Welsh Local Shop Report 2026.
3. Notes its findings that:
a) convenience stores rank among the top three businesses with a positive impact in their community;
b) 88 per cent of independent retailers in Wales engaged in community activity over the last year;
c) Welsh shops contributed more than £638 million in GVA over the last year;
4. Recognises that the right conditions must be created for Welsh retailers to invest, grow, and continue providing jobs and services to local areas.
