National Assembly for Wales

This Senedd:
1. Condemns the crackdown on political dissent and political violence carried out by the Pakistan Government that escalated last month in Islamabad with a number of fatalities.
2. Acknowledges the increasing concern among Welsh citizens with Pakistani heritage at the threat to democracy, the lack of independence in the judiciary, and the detention of political prisoners in Pakistan.
3. Calls on the UK and other western countries to apply pressure on Pakistan to:
a) end political oppression;
b) renew democracy;
c) uphold international law; and
d) release Imran Khan as called for by the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention.
