National Assembly for Wales

This Senedd:
1. Recognises that medicine shortages increasingly impact patient care and healthcare teams in Wales.
2. Is grateful for the hard work of pharmacy teams across Wales sourcing and supplying medicines.
3. Welcomes the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s report, Medicines shortages: Solutions for empty shelves, which examines causes, impacts, and makes recommendations to address and manage these shortages.
4. Supports the main recommendation of a cohesive cross-government and NHS strategy across the UK to improve supply chain resilience and medicine security.
5. Urges the UK Government to legislate for community pharmacists to make minor (non-therapeutic) prescription substitutions during shortages.
