National Assembly for Wales

This Senedd:
1. Welcomes the opportunity to highlight chronic obstructive pulmonary disease through World COPD Day on 20 November 2024.
2. Notes that over 74,000 people in Wales have been diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and the condition costs the NHS in Wales around £211 million per year.
3. Notes that according to Asthma and Lung UK, only seven per cent of COPD patients are receiving the five elements of basic care recommended by NICE.
4. Calls upon the Welsh Government to consider developing a respiratory improvement plan.
