OPIN-2024-0405 Coeliac Disease is Different for Everyone (e) Tabled on 08/05/2024

This Senedd:
1. Notes that coeliac disease is a serious autoimmune condition that affects 1 in 100 people.
2. Regrets that approximately two-thirds of people living with coeliac disease in Wales, roughly 20,000 people, have yet to receive a diagnosis.
3. Acknowledges that the average waiting time for a coeliac disease diagnosis for adults in Wales is 13 years from onset of symptoms.
4. Welcomes the launch of Coeliac UK’s Awareness month Coeliac Disease is Different for Everyone which aims to highlight the importance of receiving a diagnosis.
5. Calls on the Welsh Government to explore different initiatives to facilitate and encourage earlier diagnosis.
