OPIN-2022-0295 Miners' Strike Pardons and need for UK inquiry into dispute

This Senedd:
1. Welcomes the passing of the Miners’ Strike (Pardons) Bill in the Scottish Parliament to pardon former miners convicted of certain offences during the Miners’ Strike 1984-85.
2. Congratulates the Scottish Government for conducting a review of impact of policing on Scottish communities during the industrial dispute
3. Recognises the scale of injustice of convicting those picketing for their rights,
4. Calls upon the Welsh Government to write to the UK Home Secretary requesting the creation of a UK-wide public inquiry into the strike and for a consideration of a UK compensation scheme for former miners.
