OPIN-2022-0287 Supporting those with diabetes (e) Tabled on 15/06/2022

This Senedd:

1. Notes 209,015 people in Wales live with diabetes, which is the equivalent of 1 in 13 people..

2. Notes the increased likelihood of people living with diabetes experiencing higher levels of psychological distress due to the demands of living with the condition.

3. Acknowledges the reality that for most people living with diabetes, access to psychological support is missing from diabetes care in Wales.

4. Calls upon the Welsh Government to consider Dr Rose Stewart’s report ‘From Missing to Mainstream’, which calls for specialist psychological support embedded within diabetes services to be available for every person with diabetes.
