OPIN-2022-0258 UK and ROI joint bid for European Football Championships 2028 (e) Tabled on 07/02/2022

This Senedd:

1. Welcomes the joint bid for UEFA Euro 2028 from the football associations of the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

2. Recognises that Wales is a fantastic host for international sporting events and has already hosted the biggest match in club football, the UEFA Champions League final.

3. Recognises the many benefits that hosting the tournament would bring, such as boosting the economy, encouraging sporting participation and promoting Wales to the world.

4. Calls on the Welsh Government to do everything it can to make the bid successful, including working with the governments of the British Isles and relevant bodies.
