OPIN-2021-0196 Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (e) Tabled on 15/03/2021

This Senedd:

1. Welcomes the fact that over 50 States have ratified the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, which prohibits developing, stockpiling and the use of nuclear weapons, and came into effect in January 2021.

2. Regrets that not one of the nuclear weapon states, including the UK, have ratified the treaty.

3. Calls on the UK Government to ratify the international treaty on the prohibition of nuclear weapons and start the process of decommissioning its own arsenal.

4. Notes concerns expressed by the people of Wales regarding nuclear weapons.
