OPIN-2020-0158 World Maternal Mental Health Day (e) Tabled on 04/05/2020

This Assembly:

1. Welcomes World Maternal Mental Health day on 6 May 2020

2. Recognises that one in five mums and one in ten dads experience perinatal mental health problems, only likely to intensify during coronavirus

3. Notes that specialist perinatal mental health support is vital to prevent immediate, long-term consequences for families

4. Supports the NSPCC’s ‘Fight for a Fair Start’ campaign and Maternal Mental Health Alliance’s ‘Plea to Plan’, that parents can access timely perinatal mental health support

5. Calls on the Welsh Government to ensure continued focus on perinatal mental health, now and post-lockdown, to ensure families can access specialist support
