OPIN-2018-0106 Anti-Slavery Day 2018 (e) Tabled on 02/10/2018

This Assembly:

1. Notes that on 18 October 2018 events will be held across the UK to acknowledge that men, women and children continue to be victims of the modern-day slave trade, despite the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade more than 200 years ago.

2. Acknowledges that this day helps to raise awareness of the dangers of modern-day slavery, including human trafficking, and encourages people to be proactive in fighting slavery.

3. Notes the campaign by the Co-operative Party against modern slavery, encouraging councils across England and Scotland to follow the Welsh Government’s lead on ethical employment in procurement.
