OPIN-2018-0072 End Period Poverty in Wales (e) Tabled on 06/02/2018

This Assembly:

1. Notes that 10 percent of young women in the UK cannot afford sanitary products and 12 percent of girls have had to improvise sanitary wear as a result.
2. Welcomes the action by Welsh organisations including Periods in Poverty, Wings Cymru, The Red Box Project, Trussell Trust, and others to tackle this issue.
3. Welcomes the work by some local authorities to make sanitary products available in school which may otherwise affect girls’ school attendance.
4. Calls on the Welsh Government to identify ways to make sanitary products available for Welsh food banks and educational institutions to end period poverty.
