Will the First Minister provide an update on actions arising from the Wildfire Summit on the 22 October 2026?

The summit was highly successful and demonstrated a clear commitment to work together to reduce the future risk of wildfire. My written statement of 22 October set out some of the main actions we will take. Work in all of these areas is already under way, and I and my colleagues will keep the Senedd fully informed of progress.

What consideration has the First Minister given to securing Wales's digital sovereignty?

Consideration of our approach to digital sovereignty is important because the choices we make now shape the long-term resilience and strategic autonomy of Wales. Welsh people, communities and businesses must benefit from the UK’s significant investment in artificial intelligence security and sovereignty announced in the budget. Wales must get its fair share so that we can reap the benefits of this investment, ensure public trust and guard against global risks.

What is the Welsh Government’s response to the UK COVID-19 Inquiry’s findings on the impact of restricted visiting on older people in care homes?

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the pandemic, especially those who experienced the pain of separation from loved ones.

The Welsh Government welcomes the UK OVOD-19 inquiry’s report on the care sector and is committed to carefully considering and responding constructively to its findings, including the recommendation on visiting in care homes. Embedding learning is a priority and we will provide our response to the inquiry within required timescales.

What action is the Welsh Government taking to support high streets in Afan Ogwr Rhondda?

Our regeneration funding is supporting high streets across Afan Ogwr Rhondda, bringing empty buildings back into use and improving public spaces.

From April 2027, eligible retail, hospitality and leisure premises, including those on high streets, will benefit from a permanent 30 per cent business rates reduction. Our independent town-centre taskforce is identifying practical ways to revitalise town centres and put thriving high streets back at the heart of our communities.
