What action is the Cabinet Minister taking to realign the Welsh Government’s budget to address cost-of-living pressures for households?
As cost-of-living pressures continue to impact across Wales, we remain focused on our key priority to support those households affected, where it is within our powers to do so. Yesterday’s budget set the foundations for aligning spending with our priorities, and I will set out longer term plans at our first full budget in the autumn.
What discussions has the Cabinet Minister had with the Cabinet Minister for Education and the Welsh Language about funding for additional learning needs?
I have regular discussions with my ministerial colleagues on a range of funding issues. Work is currently under way between the Welsh Treasury and education officials to develop a plan to make the additional learning needs system more inclusive and sustainable so that it meets the needs of learners.
What plans does the Welsh Government have to reform business rates to support town centres?
Our manifesto included a range of specific commitments related to the reform of the non-domestic rates system. We will explore how to improve support for high-street and town-centre businesses, building on the new arrangements for retailers that we supported during the previous Senedd.

What are the Welsh Government’s priorities for supporting the cultural sector in Pontypridd Cynon Merthyr?
Our renewed focus on culture will benefit the sector in every corner of Wales, including Pontypridd Cynon Merthyr. I am committed to making Wales a cultural and sporting powerhouse, by supporting both venues and the workforce to thrive. This will be part of our work to develop a new culture strategy, with a consultation due to be launched within our first 100 days in Government.
What support is the Welsh Government providing for Wrexham’s bid for City of Culture?
As a Welsh Government, we are working closely with the bid team and the council to support Wrecsam’s bid for city of culture. Evidence shows that becoming a city of culture is a considerable driver for economic growth and can create a long-lasting legacy for the host city and surrounding area. We are taking a cross-Government approach before Wrecsam submits its full application by 10 August.

The Welsh Government is supporting grass-roots sport facilities in Afan Ogwr Rhondda through our £11 million capital funding to Sport Wales. This funding supports initiatives such as A Place for Sport and the energy saving grant.
