Questions For - Cabinet Minister for Health and Care
What immediate steps is the Government taking to address the crisis in Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, particularly in accident and emergency departments?
The health board remains in Level 5 escalation, including for urgent and emergency care, because patients in north Wales are waiting too long in emergency departments and deserve better. NHS Performance and Improvement is working directly with the health board to drive the urgent improvements required.
What steps is the Welsh Government taking to improve ambulance services in Carmarthenshire?
The Welsh Government is strengthening ambulance services in Carmarthenshire through investment in workforce and fleet, implementation of a prioritised response model, driving improved ambulance handover, and commissioning through the Joint Commissioning Committee, ensuring faster responses, better clinical outcomes, and more care delivered safely closer to home when appropriate.
What action is the Welsh Government taking to address the variation in cancer waiting times between the health boards serving Afan Ogwr Rhondda?
Variation with the cancer waiting times is addressed through the intervention and support mechanisms of the oversight and escalation framework for NHS Wales. NHS Performance and Improvement is supporting both health boards to address cancer waiting time performance and to comply with nationally agreed cancer pathways.
What discussions has the Cabinet Minister had with health boards across Wales regarding workforce planning?
This is a new Welsh Government. As Cabinet Minister, I will be engaging with NHS organisations across Wales on a range of priorities. I am clear workforce planning must improve, and we will work closely with partners, including HEIW, to strengthen planning and delivery for the future.
Questions For - Cabinet Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning
What steps will the Welsh Government take to drive cross-border collaboration between local authorities?
Effective collaboration is essential to delivering better outcomes for people, particularly where communities and economies do not follow administrative boundaries.
We will continue to support locally-driven cross-border working in partnership with local government to strengthen collaboration.
Will the Cabinet Minister outline the number of homes allocated to social and accessible housing in the upcoming housing developments in Porthcawl, Barry and Bridgend?
Adopted Local Development Plans include housing allocations to deliver homes, the number of which is based on detailed Housing Needs Surveys. In the Vale of Glamorgan 40% of all new homes are required to be affordable and in Bridgend County Borough Council this figure is between15% and 30%.
What progress is the Welsh Government making towards strengthening tenants’ rights and ending no-fault evictions?
I am committed to delivering stronger rights and protections in the private rented sector, so tenants are better protected from unfair practices and have greater security, stability and confidence in their homes. I will bring forward a package of legislative measures to deliver this.
