Will the Cabinet Secretary provide an update on progress toward introducing a deposit-return scheme in Wales?
Having laid the regulations before the Senedd, we are working at pace to introduce a deposit-return scheme that both delivers for Wales and will be interoperable with those in the rest of the UK by October 2027. This includes a four‑year transition period for glass.
Will the Cabinet Secretary confirm whether the Welsh Government remains committed to its original target for the creation of new woodlands by 2030?
We remain focused on driving up tree planting rates in response to the recommendations made by the Climate Change Committee in 2020. For our next carbon budget, we will work with stakeholders to deliver an ambitious target that they recognise as both challenging and achievable, drawing on the latest advice from CCC.
How is the Welsh Government working to ensure that the one in seven properties in Wales at risk of flooding have received advice on property flood resilience measures that may benefit them?
Responsibility for identifying, advising on and delivering property flood resilience lies with risk management authorities, who are best placed to assess local needs. This year £77 million is being provided to RMAs for flood risk management, rising to £85 million in 2026‑27 through our annual investment programme to further strengthen resilience.
Will the Cabinet Secretary provide an update on the discovery of carcinogenic forever chemicals at the former 3M factory in Gorseinon?
The necessary remediation works to address the carcinogenic contamination at the site, as required by the environmental permit, have or are in the process of being completed by the operator. Swansea Council is currently in the process of making its determination on part-surrendering the permit.

The Welsh Government’s invest-to-save fund has supported around 200 projects worth £200 million, with savings reinvested to fund new initiatives such as hospital solar farms and green infrastructure in the public sector.

It is an integral part of our financial processes and is a key consideration for each Cabinet Secretary as part of our responsibility to manage and deploy public resources responsibly, with integrity, transparency and value for money in mind.
