Questions For - First Minister
What is the Government doing to support small independent businesses in South Wales West?
We offer a comprehensive package of support to help small independent businesses across Wales thrive. Through Business Wales, entrepreneurs and businesses can access relevant information, guidance and support at any stage of their business journey. Dedicated teams within the Welsh Government also provide support on innovation and export guidance to drive growth and competitiveness.
What is the Welsh Government’s position on Hywel Dda University Health Board’s decision to remove emergency general surgery services from Withybush Hospital?
I have been clear in my expectation, services must be safe, sustainable, and responsive to the needs of local populations. Services must also be delivered in line with professional standards and clinical guidance - this includes robust planning around demand, capacity, workforce, and financial resources to ensure services are both effective and resilient.
Will the First Minister make a statement on how the Welsh Government is tackling fly-tipping?
Our ongoing funding of Keep Wales Tidy and Fly-tipping Action Wales continues to help clean up our communities across Wales. This includes providing 150 new trail cameras to local authorities to tackle fly-tipping hotspots and running awareness campaigns to encourage the responsible disposal of rubbish. Local authorities want stronger tools to tackle this problem and Welsh Government is actively reviewing whether current penalty levels suffice to deter would-be offenders.
Will the First Minister make a statement on Welsh and UK Government support for Cardiff Parkway?
I am delighted that the Welsh and UK Governments have jointly committed to delivering a new train station at Cardiff Parkway. This is a scheme of huge significance which will boost connectivity and drive prosperity alongside the wider Cardiff Parkway development.
Additional UK Government funding has been made available to deliver the station, which is part of our immediate priorities for rail enhancements in Wales.
