Questions For - Cabinet Secretary for Education
How is the Welsh Government working to improve attainment and standards in schools in Wales?
I am committed to raising standards and attainment so all learners can achieve their full potential. We are investing over £20 million across three years to improve attainment in literacy and numeracy and are providing £128 million this year to schools to tackle the poverty attainment gap.
Will the Cabinet Secretary make a statement on the provision of sex education in schools?
Developmentally appropriate relationships and sexuality education is mandatory within the Curriculum for Wales. The RSE code provides crucial safeguarding for learners and supports them to build respectful, trusting relationships through empathy, kindness and compassion, helping them stay safe both online and offline.
Questions For - Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government
What discussions has the Cabinet Secretary had with Wrexham County Borough Council regarding the funding formula used to set its revenue support grant?
The funding formula is developed in partnership with local government, with strategic and political oversight provided by the finance sub-group. Any proposed changes to the formula are considered by this group, where the leader of Wrexham County Borough Council is a member.
What discussions has the Cabinet Secretary had with the UK Government about the way it allocates funding for communities and councils in North Wales?
We are pleased to be consulting on the implementation of the local growth fund. This will see £547 million of funding decisions being restored to Wales as a direct result of our discussions with UK Government. We do however continue to raise our concerns about UK Government funding devolved activity directly.
