Questions For - First Minister
Will the First Minister make a statement on two-year NHS waiting times?
Reducing waiting times is a key commitment for the Welsh Government. We invested £50 million last year and a further £120 million this year to support improvements in planned care to eliminate two-year waits, reduce the overall waiting list by 200,000 and restore the maximum eight-week target for tests.
Will the First Minister provide an update on initiatives to help young people in Mid and West Wales develop the skills to take up clean energy jobs?
We’re delivering real opportunities for young people across Wales to benefit from clean energy careers. Through our net zero skills action plan and apprenticeship programme, we’re working directly with employers and colleges to embed green skills into training pathways. These initiatives are already creating high-quality, industry-led routes into sustainable jobs, ensuring our young people are equipped to lead Wales’s transition to a net-zero economy.
How is the Welsh Government working with the hospitality sector to ensure they are resilient to economic challenges?
We are backing the hospitality sector with a package of support from grants to skills development. We collaborate with the sector through the Wales tourism and hospitality skills partnership, and regular dialogue through the visitor economy forum ensures the sector’s needs are heard. Hospitality businesses have access to all the Business Wales support that we offer to growing companies.
What steps is the Government planning on taking to counter disinformation in the Senedd election next year?
I share your concern at the disinformation we have seen in democracies across the world and specifically in the UK. As a Government, we are playing our part in ensuring information is available to voters through the elections information platform, a democratic engagement grant programme, supporting Ofcom’s Informed Voices programme and the Member accountability Bill we introduced.
Those of us who believe in democracy need to work together to give our different perspectives but also to be truthful and reflect the facts and the challenges society faces.
