Will the Cabinet Secretary provide an update on levels of plastic, microplastics and tree debris in rivers?

Welsh Government and Natural Resources Wales have convened an emerging threat to water quality working group, which considers micro and nanoplastics as part of the group’s remit, in addition to other emerging threats. Since 2022 we have provided over £56 million to address water quality challenges in Wales.

What advice from Welsh Government officials did the Cabinet Secretary consider in reaching the decision not to adopt the same bluetongue disease regime as England?

I considered the full range of policies and advice available, including from the Wales animal health and welfare framework, industry and veterinary sector representations, veterinary risk assessments, policy and legal advice.

How is the Welsh Government supporting local authorities in South Wales East to tackle illegal dog breeding?

The capacity within local authorities to investigate and stop illegal dog breeding has increased significantly in recent years as a direct result of the Welsh Government-funded Animal Licensing Wales project. I’m pleased to announce that funding has been extended for another year to enable local authorities to continue with their progress.
