Will the Cabinet Secretary make a statement on collaborative working between local authorities in South Wales Central?

Local authorities across South Wales Central collaborate on a wide range of functions and services. A key mechanism for doing so is the Corporate Joint Committee, which was established to streamline governance structures, create opportunities for stronger regional collaboration, alongside maximising the use of resources and expertise.

What is the Welsh Government doing to protect front-line local government services in Bridgend?

The Welsh Government prioritises local government and front line public services in its budget decisions.  The final local government settlement for 2025-2026 provides over £6.1bn in core revenue funding. This is an average increase of 4.5% or £262 million on a like-for-like basis.

What plans does the Cabinet Secretary have to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of South Wales Fire and Rescue Service?

The Welsh Government are  engaging with the Commissioners and the Chief Fire Officer of South Wales Fire and Rescue Service on the delivery of their improvement priorities following the publication of the inspection report by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.
