Questions For - First Minister
How is the Welsh Government supporting working families with the cost of living?
We are continuing to support people across Wales, including working families, to mitigate against the impact of the increase in cost-of-living and have invested over £7b since 2022 in interventions which reduce costs, maximise the incomes of families and keep money in people’s pockets.
Will the First Minister make a statement on the Welsh Government's plans to further develop the South Wales Metro?
We are investing over £1bn in the South Wales Metro to deliver a transformational turn-up-and-go service for rail passengers on our Core Valleys Lines. We’re already seeing the results; with faster and more frequent services operated by brand new electric trains thanks to our £800m investment in new fleets.
Will the First Minister provide an update on discussions between the Welsh Government and Bangor University regarding the university’s financial position?
I met with the Vice Chancellor of Bangor University on 16 May. The Minister for Further and Higher Education also met representatives of trade unions at Bangor on June 10. Officials and Medr are in regular contact with the university regarding its financial position.
What assessment has the First Minister made of the share of UK Government rail funding that has been allocated to Wales over the period of the recently announced spending review?
After years of calling for fair rail funding for Wales, we welcome this step forward in funding. The extra rail funding announced is the start of the process to address the historical underfunding of rail in Wales.
