Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care
How is the workforce development central budgets expenditure line in the health and social care main expenditure group of the Welsh Government Budget 2025-26 due to be spent over the next financial year?
The Workforce Development Central Budgets BEL, which stands at £7.408m as published in the Final Budget 2025 to 2026, supports activities relating to NHS Wales health professional workforce, including:
- funding to support the delivery of NHS Wales international recruitment plans
- Welsh Government financial incentives for general practice speciality trainees
What plans does the Cabinet Secretary have to create a cardiovascular disease prevention programme?
Public Health Wales is working with the NHS Wales Executive to develop a secondary prevention programme for cardiovascular disease. The Cardiovascular Prevention Steering Group aims to improve how health boards can identify and optimise secondary prevention in those known to have cardiovascular risk and to identify those with previously unrecognised risk.
Engagement in the early stages of establishing the Steering Group included the British Heart Foundation and the Stroke Association. The Foundation are also represented on the NHS Executive’s Strategic Clinical Network for Cardiovascular Disease, which is part of the Steering Group. As recommendations are developed, further engagement is planned with third sector organisations.

How is the Welsh Government ensuring that the business rates system is fair for seasonal businesses that don't operate all year round?
The Welsh Government does not hold information on the seasonality of businesses liable for non-domestic rates. Such businesses are, however, likely to be well represented among the recipients of relevant non-domestic rates reliefs.
Further to WQ95898, will the Cabinet Secretary commit to a strong terms of reference and a clear timeline for the review of Wales's public investment funding as agreed upon by the Senedd in the Plaid Cymru debate on 19 February 2025 on Gaza?

What consideration has the Welsh Government given to mitigating the impact caused by broken-down vehicles blocking the carriageway on the A465 between Brynmawr and Clydach in light of the lack of a hard shoulder or lay-bys?
Road safety audits as part of the scheme design concluded the arrangements to be acceptable e.g. 50mph speed limit and the road is lit in hours of darkness. Welsh Government monitors the performance of it’s network including the A465 between Brynmawr and Clydach.
