National Assembly for Wales

To propose that the Senedd:

1. Notes:

a) the prevalent use of live facial recognition technology across Wales by Welsh Police Forces;

b) that there is potential bias in live facial recognition technology that may be harmful to individuals and communities; and

c) the potential harms from poorly regulated use of live facial recognition technology.

2. Calls on the Welsh Government to work with the UK Government and Welsh Police and Crime Commissioners to: 

a) ensure that all current developments of live facial recognition technology are proportional, fair and non-discriminatory; and

b) work with communities across Wales to understand their concerns with live facial recognition technology and ensure that these concerns are addressed.
