Notes the Written Statement issued by the First Minister on 11 December 2020 about new levels of restrictions to respond to the coronavirus pandemic in Wales.

Notes that press reports state that Dr Angela Raffle, a senior lecturer in population sciences at Bristol University, said that COVID-19 mass testing was "incredibly resource intensive" and continuing it in Wales could be "the most massive-scale of waste of resources".

Notes: 

a) press reports in March 2020 stating that the Prime Minister, in respect of the spread of COVID-19 in the UK, said that “we can turn the tide within the next 12 weeks and I’m absolutely confident that we can send coronavirus packing in this country"; and

b) that the Welsh Government has not been sufficiently attentive to these remarks and, instead, have opted to use current circumstances to promote long-term policies that:

i) are disproportionate to any objective health risk; and

ii) do not prevent and repair the colossal damage to civil liberties and the economy caused by governmental responses to COVID-19.
